Chapter 2. Dialogs

6. Color selector

Figure 2.6. The color dialog

Using the color selector dialog, users can choose the stroke color. Thanks to the top-left button it is possible to choose how to get the new color. There are three different ways.

Clicking on the colored top panel, users can change the gray background color. This can be useful for working on transparent canvas.

5. Pattern browser dialog

Figure 2.7. The pattern browser main window

With plouik, users can 'texturize' their brushes by stamping a texture on the drawing. The pattern browser dialog purpose is to set the pattern configuration.

Clicking on the texture thumbnail on the bottom-left of dialog opens a new panel where users can change the pattern.

1. Textures

Currently, there are 3 kinds of textures in plouik

  • Realistic
  • Patterns
  • Stamps

2. Operators

Negative: invert the black and white. Zoom: change the zoom of the texture. 3 zoom levels are available: x1, x2, x4.
Turn: turn the texture by 90° clockwise.

3. Stamping mode

The right [TOGGLE] button allows users to change the stamping mode of the texture. There are 3 different ways.

Align: the texture and the canvas are aligned. 2 different drawings with the same aligned texture won't overwrite each other. Pin: the texture is centered. Mainly, this mode is useful with the stamp type.
Random: the texture is stamped randomly.
Currently, the texture is not stamped in real-time. The drawing is modified by the pattern only after the release of the drawing tool.

Operations and layers dialog

The operations and layers dialog is a tools box which allows some modifications on the picture.

Vertical mirror: flip the image. Horizontal mirror: flip the image.
Turn: turn the image by 90° clockwise. Turn: turn the image by 180°.
Turn: turn the image by 270° clockwise. New layer: add a new layer.
Delete layer: delete the upper layer. Merge layers: merge the two layers.
Flip layers: up layer becomes down layer.
